cost benefit tradeoff analysis

An analytic approach to solving problems of choice. It requires the definition of objectives, identification of alternative ways of achieving each objective and the identification, for each objective, of that alternative that yields the greatest benefit for a given cost or produces the required level of benefits at the lowest cost.
